There are moments in this journey that can feel discouraging.
Moments where you catch yourself thinking a thought you thought you had already moved past.
Reacting in a way you didn’t want to.
Falling into a pattern you believed you had already worked through.
And in that moment, the thought comes quickly.
Why am I back here?
I’ve had those moments.
Moments where I paused and thought, I really believed I had already grown through this.
Moments where it felt like I had taken a step forward… only to take one right back.
And there’s a frustration that can come with it.
Almost like you expected more of yourself by now.
You thought you had already worked through this.
You thought you had already grown past this way of thinking, this reaction, this pattern.
And now here it is again.
It can make you question your progress.
It can make you wonder if anything has really changed.
And if you’re not careful, that one moment can begin to rewrite the story you’ve been building.
It can convince you that you’re stuck.
That you’re not moving forward the way you thought you were.
That maybe this isn’t working the way you hoped it would.
But that’s not what’s happening.
Growth Does Not Move in a Straight Line
One of the biggest misunderstandings about growth is the belief that once something shifts, it should stay that way.
That once you become aware, you won’t think that way again.
That once you respond differently, you’ll always respond that way.
But that’s not how this works.
Growth is not linear.
It doesn’t move in a straight line from point A to point B.
It unfolds.
It layers.
It deepens.
And sometimes, it circles back.
Not to take you backward… but to bring something into clearer view.
There are things you could not see before that you can see now.
Not because they just showed up…
But because you’re ready to recognize them.
What Feels Like Falling Back Is Awareness Increasing
There was a time when I would react without even realizing it.
My thoughts felt automatic.
My responses felt justified.
And I didn’t question them.
Now, I notice.
I notice the thought as it happens.
I notice the shift in my emotions.
I notice the moment I have a choice.
That alone is growth.
But here’s where it can feel confusing.
Because now that you notice it, it can feel like it’s happening more.
Like you’re stuck in it.
Like you haven’t changed.
But what’s actually happening is this:
You’re seeing what was already there.
You just didn’t recognize it before.
Awareness can make something feel louder…
not because it’s stronger,
but because you’re finally paying attention.
And sometimes, awareness doesn’t just show you the surface.
It reveals layers.
Things you didn’t see before.
Things you weren’t ready to see before.
Not because you weren’t capable…
but because growth often happens in stages.
What you’re seeing now is not a repeat.
It’s a deeper level.
Returning Is Part of the Process
There’s something I’ve come to understand in a deeper way through this journey.
Growth is not about never revisiting an old pattern.
It’s about how quickly you recognize it… and what you choose next.
There will be moments where an old thought shows up.
Where an old reaction feels close.
Where something familiar tries to pull you back in.
That doesn’t mean you’ve failed.
It means you’ve been given another opportunity to choose.
And every time you choose differently, even in a small way, you strengthen who you are becoming.
That’s what builds consistency.
Not perfection.
Returning.
Returning to what you now know is true.
Returning to awareness.
Returning to alignment.
And the more you practice returning, the less power those old patterns have.
What God Is Doing in the Middle of This
For a long time, I thought that if I was still struggling with something, it meant I hadn’t fully surrendered it.
That I needed to try harder, be more disciplined, or figure out what I was missing.
But what I’ve come to see is this:
God does not rush this process.
He does not expect you to have it all figured out.
And He is not discouraged by the moments where you feel like you’ve taken a step back.
He sees the whole picture.
He sees the awareness that is growing.
He sees the moments you pause.
He sees the times you choose differently… even if no one else does.
And He meets you right there.
Not with disappointment.
Not with frustration.
But with patience.
With understanding.
With a perspective that is far greater than the moment you are focused on.
Where you see a setback, He sees refinement.
Where you see inconsistency, He sees growth unfolding.
And where you feel like you’ve taken a step back, He sees how far you’ve already come.
Sometimes that shows up as conviction.
Sometimes it shows up as peace.
Sometimes it’s simply a quiet awareness that reminds you… you don’t have to respond the way you used to.
You are not walking this out alone.
And you are not expected to do it perfectly.
Consistency Is Built Differently Than You Think
Most people think consistency looks like getting it right every time.
But real consistency looks different.
It looks like noticing sooner.
It looks like pausing faster.
It looks like returning more quickly.
It looks like not staying in a pattern as long as you used to.
Those shifts may seem small.
But they are not.
They are evidence of change.
They are proof that something is different.
And over time, those small moments begin to reshape how you think, respond, and live.
What once felt automatic begins to feel optional.
What once felt overwhelming begins to feel manageable.
What once pulled you in begins to lose its hold.
That’s how consistency is built.
Not through perfection…
but through awareness and choice, over and over again.
You Are Not Starting Over
If you’ve had a moment recently where you felt like you slipped back…
Pause for a second.
Look at it differently.
Did you notice it sooner than you would have before?
Did you question it in a way you didn’t used to?
Did you feel the difference, even if you didn’t respond perfectly?
That matters.
Because that means something in you has already shifted.
You are not starting over.
You are seeing more clearly.
And that clarity is what allows you to keep moving forward.
A Gentle Invitation
If this resonates with you, take a moment to pause.
Not to judge yourself…
but to recognize what is actually happening.
You’re becoming more aware.
You’re noticing more.
You’re being given more opportunities to choose.
That’s not failure.
That’s growth.
You don’t need to go back and fix everything.
You don’t need to prove that you’ve changed.
You simply need to stay aware… and keep choosing.
That’s where the shift continues to happen.
So instead of asking, “Why am I still here?”
try asking, “What am I seeing more clearly right now?”
That question changes how you move forward.
Because growth isn’t about never revisiting something.
It’s about responding to it differently when you do.
And if you feel ready to go deeper, let’s talk.
